My dear Lambert:-
Many thanks for your letter of the 18th about
the governorship of Hongkong.
We certainly have no objection to the appointment
of Cecil Clementi. On the contrary, we have
heard nothing but good of him, and greatly appreciate
your action in choosing a man so eminently acceptable
to us.
